I quit smoking and gained 40-50 pounds. Sucks.
3 months later declared success and decided to lose rhe extra weight. Started doing a ton of walking and cut the bad food and snacks and was starting to lose. 10 pounds in the first 3 weeks.
Then had a bunch of issues with my legs and struggled to walk. Got diagnosed with MS
Didn’t want to stop the weight loss and remembered seeing Edge on Chris Van Vliet talking about Pure Plank with a promo code and decided to try it.
Got it just over a week ago and have used it every morning since and back to losing. Down a couple pounds in the week since I fot it.
If mobility and ability is seeiously limited like mine is right now, this is still possible. I’ve found a couple exercises I simply can’t do with my legs the way they are so I skip those and just add extra Forearm Planks or Knee Planks to round out the workout instead.
I already know once my trearment has my legs up and working I’ll go back to walking BUT I’m 100% going to start every morning with Pure Plank.
Now the negative and the reason I give 4/5 instead of 5/5…
The app is kinda bad.
Sometimes when I look at the workout calendar it shows me workout time, like yesterday, but when I go into the date it says 0 workouts, 0 minutes, 0 points. But on the 7 day view it shows as my longest session yet. Often when I go into the day view the “back” button seems to not work and I have to close the app manually and reopen
The “start workout” button doesn’t start a full workout. For example the starter workout. I watched the videos as tutorials. Okay great. Now I’m ready to go so I hit “start workout”.
It plays one video and stops. The workout instructions are to do 3 sets of Forearm Planks for 20 seconds with 10 seconds of rest between. I assumed “start workout” would run 3 sets of 20 seconds with 10 seconds between.
It doesn’t
It plays a 39 sscond video with instructional chatter
Then it stops. It gives a “next video” option. You’d think if you hit it it would play in order of the instructions. Nope. Takes you to the main menu for the basic workout where you can select any of the videos in that workout.
So if you want to follow a workout you are constantly having to manually interact with the app. I can’t find a way to customize at all so I can’t go in and build a workout so 3 sets of Forearm for 20 seconds each with 15 seconds between followed by 2 sets Side Plank for 20 seconds… etc so that I can just hit “start workout” crank music and go
If you aren’t playing the video manually each time it records nothing and I can’t find a way to manually add to a date “3 sets forearm, 4 sets side plank, 2 sets arm circles, (if strong that day, if not 2 sets forearm), 2 sets Knee Planks, then since my legs don’t cooperate I don’t inch worm I do 2 more Knee planks.” Then if I’m feeling like more I add repeated sets of 30 second Knee Planks until I’m done. I wish I could just enter what I did manually and have it track workouts and time that way so I don’t have to interact with the app constantly.
Finally points
It tells me, when it works, on the detailed day breakdown how many point I earned that day.
Great! Where do I found a tally? It says I earn them each day but I can’t find a “you currently have 500 points allowing for goal setting. If a good workout day nets me say 100 then I can set a goal for a week at 500. Or push myself to get 700. Or whatever.
With no total it’s kinda useless for goal setting
Finally, you can’t shut off audio and play music from phone instead. I have to play music from a seperate device and mute my phone.
Conclusion…
100% buy it, use the app to learn how to do it, then ignore it. The benefits it should have it just doesn’t.
Product totally reeks of awesomeness. App sucks.
